Alana’s passion for seasons and climate led her to enroll at Mississippi State University where she pursued Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology. While still at school, Brophy had the chance to report on Utah’s most important weather stories such as Utah’s deadliest flooding disaster in Hildale, flash flooding at Zion National Park, low water levels at Lake Powell and the GreatSalt Lake, the Brianheadwildfire, and an abundance of winter storms.
Moreover, Alana began her career as a weekend forecaster at St. George, Utah. She forecasted along the red rocks since she had fallen in love with the southern portion of their state. While she was in the desert, Brophy covered Washington County’s extreme heat and headed up a crime series, The Tri-State Crime Stoppers. Luckily, this made her earn a Community Partnership Award from the Washington City Police.
Alan went to Judge Memorial Catholic High School. She later joined Gonzaga University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast and Electronic Media and Journalism. In her free time, she enjoys skiing and flies fishing, spending time with family, supporting Special Olympics, cheering Gonzaga basketball and Chicago Blackhawks hockey, walking with her two dogs, Teddy and Radar.
