She’s been an anchor and reporter since 1995, a year after starting out as a “one-man-band” journalist, filming and editing all of her own stories. In January 2007, Alicia joins Channel 7’s top-rated morning crew.
She also received Best On-Air Talent Emmys from the Michigan Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in 2010 and 2019.
Smith marched through the streets of Wayne County late at night in March 2007 in search of a program that helped victims of human trafficking. Her trailblazing special report earned her an Emmy Award for social reporting.
