Craig Monroe Career
On July 29, 2001, in Texas, Craig played his first major game for the Texas Rangers against Tampa Bay Devil Rays. He contributed to a 2-0 victory over the visiting team by hitting a home run. He, later on, joined the Detroit Tigers organization on February 1, 2002, making 23 home runs during his full season in 2003.
Graig hit a grand slam home run off Javier Vázquez which led to the 5–2 win in a game against the Chicago White Sox on July 19, 2006. He came second on the team with 92 RBIs in the same season leading Detroit with 28 home runs. He hit five home runs which culminated in a World Series appearance during the 2006 postseason.
On August 23, 2007, he was traded with Clay Rapada of the Chicago Cubs this is after being designated for assignment by the Tigers on August 17, 2007. He was then traded to the Minnesota Twins on November 13 for another player. He was later designated for assignment on August 1, 2008, and was released on August 8.
He signed a minor league deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates on January 13, 2009. To make room for Steve Pearce on June 20, 2009, he was again designated for assignment by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He officially retired from playing baseball when he was released on July 1, 2009.
