Don Orsillo Biography

Don Orsillo is an American sportscaster serving for the San Diego Padres as a play-by-play announcer on Bally Sports San Diego. Prior to joining Ball Sports in 2016, he was serving for NESN as a play-by-play man for the Boston Red Sox.

He is now serving for Ball Sports, as a play-by-play announcer for the San Diego Padres. He joined Fox after he was controversially discharged from calling the Boston Red Sox during the 2015 season. Following joining the Padres, he replaced veteran Dick Enberg following going for retirement after the 2016 season.

During his profession as a sportscaster, he has also served Springfield Falcons as a broadcaster and play-by-play voice for the Falcons between 1994 to 1996. Apart from calling the Padres, he is also an MLB play-by-play broadcaster for TBS.

Before joining San Diego Padres in 2006, Don was serving as a play-by-play voice for Boston Red Sox on NESN. Orsillo spent 15 years calling the Red Sox games between 2001 to 2015 before he was controversially sacked. Again, serving the Sox was Don’s dream since he was a kid.

After his dismissal, he was returned by Dave O’Brien. Dave was previously calling games for the Red Sox Radio Network between 2007 -2016. Apart from calling RED Sox games while serving for NESN, Don was also tasked with calling Boston College Eagles men’s basketball on NESN.
