She won the Lone Star Emmy Award for her report on a documentary about female pilots deployed in El Paso during World War II. Hema was nominated for Best Anchor in the state of Texas in 2018, for a Lone Star Emmy in 2017, and a finalist for Best Anchor Texas Associated Press Broadcasters contest in 2018.
