Iris earned her bachelor’s degree in Multi-media Journalism and a minor in Spanish from UTEP (Go Miners!) in 2013. During her undergraduate years, she had two internships. Her first job was with K-FOX news. She then got me an internship at 104.3 HitFM, a local radio station. She was soon offered a job as an on-air radio host after completing her internship.
On the tv, she was known as Lily Lopez for three years. She started in the graveyard and worked her way up to midday shifts at HitFM. While working in radio was a rewarding and enjoyable experience, she wished for me to return to TV broadcasting.
Lopez was offered a graduation internship with ABC-7/KVIA and was offered a part-time job as a weekend reporter two weeks after the internship. For six months, she worked at the radio station during the week and at KVIA on weekends. She was reportedly given a full-time job as a weekend weather anchor and weekday news correspondent after 7 months with KVIA.
