Keith began his career with ABC News in 2003 as a journalist for NewsOne, the network’s affiliate news program. He also contributed to World News on Saturday and Sunday. He covered the Iraq war, the 2004 Super Bowl, and Hurricane Isabel.
He was an anchor/reporter for WTVD-TV in Raleigh, NC, an ABC-owned station, before joining ABC News. While working for WTVD, he was one of the few local news reporters in the country to be deployed with American soldiers during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
As a result, he was among the first journalists to arrive on the site when the 507th Maintenance Unit and the 1st Marine Expeditionary Brigade were assaulted. He also covered the arrest of alleged serial bomber Eric Rudolph and Jessica Santillan’s failed organ transplant for WTVD.
Garvin also served as a business reporter for ABC affiliate KFSN-TV in Fresno, California, from 2000 to 2001. During his tenure there, he looked into the Chandra Levy case, the federal prosecution of Yosemite Park murderer Cary Stayner, and the California energy crisis.
