LaVar Arrington is a famous former American football linebacker currently serving as a football analyst on FS1 on the “Speak For Yourself” sports talk program. For seven seasons LaVar played in the NFL. The Washington Redskins drafted him in the first round of the 2000 NFL Draft at Penn State, and he played college football.

LaVar is a retired member of the New York Giants who comes from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He played running back and linebacker in Pittsburgh while at North Hills Senior High School.

He became Player of the Year in the 1996 Parade National, Back of the Year in Bobby Dodd National High School, Player of the Year in the Gatorade, and Player of the Year in USA Today Pennsylvania after his senior year. LaVar took part in the annual game between Pennsylvania, the 1997 Big 33 Football Classic, and Ohio’s best high school football players.

He trained to play North Carolina in basketball, UMass, and basketball for Georgetown. He was on the school’s track & field team as a standout sprinter and LaVar recorded 23.14 seconds in the 200 meters and also personal-best times of 10.85 seconds in the 100 meters.

He had top jumps in the long jump 6.76 meters and in the high jump 1.96 meters. He was placed into the WPIAL Hall of Fame on June 24, 2011.
