In 1988 he joined Madison, Wisconsin where in the same year he began calling games for the Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball. He began serving for WIBA handling Wisconsin Badgers football broadcasts in 1994 and after a brief period time, he began working in Madison at WTSO Radio as a sports director.

In January 2014, It was made clear that Matt would manage the play-by-play responsibility on Fox Sports Wisconsin for the Milwaukee Brewers tv broadcasts. Matt assumed this role as a replacement for Brian Anderson.
