Delkus worked at WCPO-TV, the ABC affiliate based in Cincinnati, Ohio as the chief meteorologist from 1996 to 2005. While there, Pete received a pair of first-place Associated Press Awards for best regularly scheduled weather. Prior to joining WCPO-TV, he worked at WFTV, the ABC affiliate based in Orlando, Florida as a meteorologist for four years.

Besides his journalism career, Pete was also an outstanding athlete. He was a basketball player, a skilled pitcher before he became a popular meteorologist. Pete signed as a Free Agent with the Minnesota Twins organization in 1987 after college. Later he joined triple-A Orlando in 1989 and played 140 innings and saved 10 games with a 1.87 ERA. He enjoyed his career attaining the Rolaids Relief Man awards and “Minnesota Twins Minor League Player of the Year”. Furthermore, he also played professional baseball for six years with the Minnesota Twins organization. Unfortunately, Pete ended his career prematurely as a result of a serious elbow injury.
