Rick Sutcliffe (Richard Lee Sutcliffe) is a popular American journalist nowadays serving at ESPN as an analyst. Before that, he served various major teams as a professional Baseball pitcher such as St. Louis Cardinals, Los Angeles Dodgers, Baltimore Orioles, Chicago Cubs, and Cleveland Indians. He was popularly known for his moniker “The Red Baron”.

His professional career started at the Los Angeles Dodgers where he served for two years as a baseball pitcher. He departed from the team in 1981 and thereafter in 1982, he went to Cleveland Indians where he played for two years, and left where in 1984 he went to Chicago Cubs.

He played there from 1984 to 1991. From 1992 to 1993 he as well played for Baltimore Orioles. In 1994, he entered St Louis Cardinals, and that same year he withdrew from baseball.

He was employed as a pitching coach by the Idaho Falls Braves soon after withdrawing from playing baseball. He moved to San Diego after one year, where he was employed to work at Channel 4 as a color commentator and he served there for six years. In 1988 is when he went to ESPN and was hired as an analyst in 1998 and still serves there now.

During the MLB playoffs, he served for ESPN Radio as a guest analyst. In March 1999, he totally entered the station and since 2002 has been featured on Wednesday Night Baseball. It was made clear that Rick signed a multi-year extension with ESPN in 2018.
