Maslar-Donar joined the 27 News staff as a reporter in June 2019. She now hosts the Wake-Up Wisconsin Weekend morning show on Saturdays and Sundays and writes on the Wake-Up Wisconsin weekday morning show. She comes from the ABC station in Columbia, Missouri, where she worked as a reporter and anchor for four years.
Sara decided she wanted to be a journalist because she was a child growing up in suburban Chicago. She liked meeting new people and enjoyed writing. She spent her high school years covering for the newspaper and sometimes shadowing for the Fox affiliate in Chicago.
Sara earned her bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Missouri and is one of the most patriotic Tigers you’ll ever meet (MIZ!) She has won several Missouri Broadcasters Association awards for her market and economic growth reporting, as well as Missouri Bar Association awards for legal journalism.
During her four years at ABC 17, she covered big news such as Gov. Eric Greitens’ controversy and impeachment, the 2015 riots at the University of Missouri, and the destructive tornado that tore through Missouri’s capitol. She has spearheaded a collection of stories looking at a possible hotel levy in Columbia.
