Steve Mears is c famous American sports broadcaster. He nowadays works as the television play-by-play voice of the Pittsburgh Penguins on AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh, 3ICE hockey, and NHL/MLB Network. Before his current role, Steve served for the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs of the Central Hockey League as their director of media relations and broadcasting from 2002–2006.
In 2005, while serving for the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, Steve was named the Central Hockey League Broadcaster of the Year. He received a position offered by the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League to be their radio play-by-play broadcaster in the summer of 2006.
