He previously worked at KMBC 9 sister station in Kansas City for nearly 3 years.  Before that he spent 4 1/2 years as an Anchor and Reporter at KATC in Lafayette, Louisiana. At KATC, Steven was honored with several awards from the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters as well as the Louisiana associated Press including ”Reporter of the Year” and ”Story of the Year.” He has as well received two professional Emmy Nominations: one AT KMBC for his wide and extensive coverage on the opioid epidemic and the other from special coverage of the Ball State Football Program.

Albrittion, during his time in Louisiana covered major stories for KATC which include Hurricane Issac, the Carnival Triumph stranded at sea as well as the F-5 tornado in Moore, Oklahoma. He anchored wall-to-wall coverage of the historic flooding in southwest Louisiana in August of 2016. He spent seven days at Naval Station Norfolk in Norfolk, Virginia, while at Missouri, ending the week by flying out to the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier (CVN75) to do a series of stories.

Prior to that, Steven has covered numerous breaking events in Kansas City which include: the NCAA tournament when 16-seed UMBC knocked off 1-seed Virginia while following the Kansas State Wildcats on their tournament run, the beginning of possible major violations by the KU basketball program as well as the EF-4 tornado near the University of Kansas campus in the year 2019. Albritton has also co-hosted the KMBC 9 Storytellers podcast.

During his college life, Steven was the team captain of the Ball State co-ed cheerleading squad. This turned into teaching summer cheerleading camps across the country and around the globe. He was lucky enough and had the opportunity to teach high school cheerleaders on US Military bases in Germany and Italy in the years 2011 & 2012.
