He got his first part-time job in 1982 at the age of 16 serving at WCPK-AM 1600 in Chesapeake, Virginia. While in Highschool years, Todd labored with multiple stations in Hampton Roads, Virginia including WNVZ, WVAB, and WNIS. Further, he served with WVBR, the Cornell student-run station during her days in college.
He started his first full-time radio career at WRSR-FM (97Star) in Hampton Roads, Virginia in 1986. The station thereafter retreated to the call letters WGH-FM and the name MJ Kelli was first used at the station.
