Tom Sherry is an American news journalist currently working as the chief meteorologist for KREM 2 News and also the station’s 4 p.m. news anchor. Tom has been a member of the KREM 2 News team since January 1990.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Revered KREM 2 Anchor and Chief Meteorologist Tom Sherry announced his retirement Monday.
At the beginning of March, Tom will say goodbye to his TV audience. However, Tom has agreed to stay on with the station to help with several community projects that are close to his heart, like Tom’s Turkey Drive.
Tom graduated from the Mississippi State meteorology program. He started his broadcasting career 40 years ago in radio. He made the move over to television when he joined KREM 2 in 1990. Tom won over audiences across the Inland Northwest immediately. He’s been a staple in Spokane and on KREM 2.
Over the more than 30 years at KREM, he’s had numerous accomplishments. He was honored with the prestigious Silver Circle Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in June 2020, recognizing Tom’s outstanding and significant contribution to local television. He’s also been voted “Best TV Weathercaster” by the readers of The Inlander for 26 consecutive years.
“I’ve been lucky to be part of an amazing team at KREM 2, ” Tom said. “Most importantly, I’ve loved being a part of the community. I appreciate people letting me in their homes each night and I love the Inland Northwest.”

Tom’s love for the Inland Northwest is obvious in all his work for the community. He’s helped feed 11,000 Thanksgiving dinners to families across the Inland Northwest. He’s also supported many non-profits and schools over the past three decades including Second Harvest, Northwest Autism Center, Alzheimer’s Association, Communities in Schools, and multiple Catholic schools.

Tom began his radio broadcasting career as an announcer in 1981, eventually rising to the position of program director at KDRK-FM in Spokane. Tom’s Turkey Drive not only delivers a whole Thanksgiving feast to hundreds of families, but it also refills the shelves of regional food banks during the winter months, thanks to thousands of dollars in donations.
Tom was born in Southern California and has spent his whole professional life in the Spokane region. Michael and Matthew, his two grown sons, are his only children. Tom likes skiing, sailing, rollerblading, gardening, grilling, and volunteering in his leisure time. Tom also works as a professional auctioneer for a number of local events.
