Victoria Johnson Career
Victoria has been a broadcast journalist since 2006 and she feels very fortunate to be able to work in her hometown, San Diego. She got interested in pursuing a career in TV news while studying at the University of San Diego where she earned her degree in Communication. While at college, She interned at KFMB-TV, the San Diego CBS affiliate, as the entertainment segment. There she wrote and produced news stories and interviewed Hollywood celebrities including Dakota Fanning, Ben Affleck, and Johnny Knoxville.
Upon graduating, she started her professional career as the airborne reporter at Clear Channel’s Total Traffic Network and photographer in Chopper 8 for the weekday morning show at KFMB-TV. Victoria reported real-time traffic conditions and breaking news from a helicopter for almost seven years. She enjoyed filming aerial videos and watching the daily sunrise. During that time, Johnson was able to shoot “Secrets de la Isla Guadelupe” a 2010 Blue Ocean Film Festival finalist and for National Geographic Channel’s 2010 Great Migrations nature documentary miniseries.
Later, Victoria moved to San Luis Obispo, Califonia where she worked at KSBY-TV, the NBC affiliate wearing many hats on the weekend as the news and weather anchor, executive producer, and newsroom manager. Additionally, Johnson was a reporter who filmed and edited her own stories as a multimedia journalist.
Victoria later left the Central Coast and returned to her hometown and has been a part of the FOX 5 family ever since. During her free time, she enjoys traveling, aviation, and any adventure that comes her way.
