Martin had previously worked for CNN in the Atlanta network before joining WTTG FOX5 and had honed his reporting talents at KSEE Fresno, California, and WRAL Raleigh, North Carolina. Martin formerly worked as a writer and anchor for “WKRN” in Nashville, Tennessee.
His career began as a junior at Jackson State University. For his first position in TV news, he used the teleprompter at the WAPT news weekend. From then, he worked for everything from weekend programs to news photographers, editors, and sports reporters until he completed his degree.

In his time in Washington Martin covered a variety of major stories such as the live reporting live for several days in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, reporting live in Miami on the murder of Washington Redskins football player Sean Taylor, and he was the first live journalist to cover FOX 5’s award-winning coverage of serial bank robberies at DC.
