Zoraida joined Chicago NBC affiliate WMAQ-TV in the year 2002, where she served as a freelance weekend news anchor. Later, she moved to WSNS-TV in 2003 and worked as a reporter and anchor. She was the first Chicago on-air broadcaster to work for both English and Spanish-language stations. Moreover, Zoraida founded the weekly health and family series, Nuestra Familia while in WSNS.
In the year 2007, Zoraida was appointed to be a weekday host and anchor of NBC 5 News Today at 4:30 in Rob Elgas. She also hosted a weekly medical series focusing on health issues facing Latinos airing on cable stations internationally known as Un Buen Doctor. Later, Zoraida left WMAQ in November 2011 and joined CNN’s morning program Early Startas a co-anchor of CN along with Ashleigh Banfield.
Later, she left Early Start on December 13, 2013, so as to join her children and to be closer to family in the Chicago area. She moved back to WMAQ as co-anchor of NBC 5 News Today on April 23, 2014, and co-anchors together with Stefan Holt.
